Sculpture Trails
Thousands of visitors come to Eye for sculpture trails

The first was a Sheep Art Trail, in which 24 life-size and beautifully decorated sheep adorned the town. Offering a fun and engaging trail to brighten the local community and charm all those who visited, these sheep were a colourful celebration of Eye’s historic connection to the Suffolk wool trade. Due to the Covid pandemic, the second trail was a smaller 'Trail of Hope' with strikingly decorated tortoise and hare sculptures depicting the good things to come out of lockdown. “Super Hare-O” was a tribute and thank you to the NHS and essential workers, “What lockdown Tortoise” featured the planet healing due to low pollution, “Colonel Tom, the Gentlehare” was a tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore, an inspiration to us all, “Ready Steady Mo” showed beautiful garden flowers, “Sportoise” celebrated all the extra keep fit that we did and PE with Joe Wicks and “Nutbrown” had photos of the residents of Eye. There were also 6 mini sculptures in a variety of themes and colours.

Capturing the imagination of all those involved, each of the sculptures in both years were kindly sponsored by local businesses and painted by talented artists, all of whom volunteered countless hours of their time designing and decorating these glorious sculptures.

All the animals were put up for auction at the end of the trails, raising thousands of pounds for The Blossom Charity, helping women, men and teens to live their best lives. Watch out for next year’s trail!
